The top 10 highest-value sales, totalling $69.6 million, all occurred in Auckland. The properties' combined capital values amounted to $58.13 million. The top of these was a penthouse sold to a hedge manager based in Singapore for $7.8 million.
The Russian Billionaire Alexander Abramov's house in Helena Bay nears completion with an estimated cost of $50 million. The announcement comes that not only will this be a house of the billionaire, they plan to use it as a luxury lodge for commercial use. Rental estimates are roughly $2,500 to $5,000 a night, depending on which lodge you'll spend your time. Helena Bay is approximately 2.5 hours north of Auckland. This is a prime example of how foreign investment can be beneficial to the NZ economy. Many people including local Iwi have worked on the project, completing apprenticeships, and also future plans to employ locals are in place.
